Petersgate’s Counselling Services

At Petersgate Counselling Centre, we offer professional, compassionate, and affordable counselling for individuals, couples, and families. We take a personal, inclusive approach and welcome clients from all walks of life, no matter your background, beliefs, or experiences. Individual Counselling

We offer one-on-one counselling in a safe, private space where you can talk about your personal challenges and emotions. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, trauma, or other mental health issues, our counsellors work with you to set goals, develop coping strategies, and support your mental health at your own pace.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)Sample Headline

EFT is a therapy that helps couples and families improve emotional connections. It helps identify and change patterns of conflict, withdrawal, or defensiveness in relationships. Through EFT, we work with you to understand your emotional needs and develop healthier ways of interacting and responding to each other.

Couples/Relationship Counselling

If you and your partner are facing challenges in your relationship, we offer a supportive environment where you can work through issues together. Our trained counsellors help couples improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen emotional connections, so you can build a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT)

EFCT helps couples reconnect by exploring and improving their emotional bond. Based on attachment theory, this therapy helps partners feel more understood, reduce conflict, and rebuild trust. EFCT is a structured way to help couples deepen their connection and improve their relationship satisfaction.

Family counselling

Families sometimes face seasons where communication becomes strained, misunderstandings grow, or life pressures begin to affect relationships at home. At Petersgate Counselling Centre, our family counselling service provides a safe, respectful space where family members can talk openly, be heard, and work through challenges together. Our experienced counsellors help families strengthen communication, rebuild trust, navigate conflict, and develop healthier ways of supporting one another. Family counselling can assist with parenting challenges, relationship tensions, major life changes, and the everyday stresses that can place pressure on family life.

Supervision for Counsellors

At Petersgate, we offer professional supervision for other counselling trainers/students. This confidential space allows counsellors to reflect on their work, manage their emotional wellbeing, and continue developing their skills. Supervision ensures that our team maintains high standards and provides the best care possible to our clients.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a highly effective therapy for people who have experienced trauma. It helps the brain process traumatic memories and reduce emotional distress, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. EMDR helps you reprocess difficult memories so they no longer have such a strong emotional impact.

Art, Music, and Play Therapy

Art, music, and play therapy provide creative ways to express emotions and thoughts, especially when words are hard to find. These therapies are great for children and young people, but adults can also benefit from using creative activities like drawing, painting, and music to work through emotions in a different way than traditional talk therapy.

Psychodrama

Psychodrama is a counselling technique that uses role-playing and dramatization to explore personal experiences and emotions. In a safe, supportive environment, clients act out events or conflicts in their lives to gain new perspectives, process emotions, and experiment with new ways of thinking and behaving.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness-based counselling teaches techniques to help you stay present, reduce stress, and improve your emotional wellbeing. By practicing mindfulness, such as through meditation or breathing exercises, you’ll learn to manage anxiety, depression, and everyday stress with more clarity and calm.

EAP

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) services ate designed to support the wellbeing of staff and strengthen an organisation. Our experienced, qualified counsellors provide timely, compassionate support for work-related concerns, including stress, anxiety, workplace challenges, and life transitions. We work collaboratively with employers to deliver flexible, tailored EAP solutions that are easy to access and responsive to your team’s needs, whether through in-person sessions or secure online appointments.
